Dolores Granados

Soprano

The Mexican soprano Dolores Granados began her training at the Conservatory of Music and Arts of Celaya (Guanajuato). In 2005, she obtained the advanced degree of “Diploma in Singing and Lyric Theater”, graduating with top honors: “Matricola d’onore”, from the Higher School of Singing in Madrid, under the direction of Maria Aragon and Julio Alexis Muñoz. In 2007, she also earned the advanced degree of “Diploma in Lyric Singing Teaching.”

She has attended masterclasses with Mª Monica Preux, Mº Francisco Nuñez, Mº Enrique Jaso Mendoza, Mº Peter Harrison, Mª Elena Barrientos, M° Antonio Madigan, and Mº Francisco Ortiz, among others. Since 2006, she has been perfecting her operatic repertoire with Mº Vincenzo La Ferla.

During the 2007 summer course at the ACCADEMIA MUSICALE CHIGIANA in SIENA, her professor, the eminent soprano RAINA KABAIVANSKA, awarded her a SCHOLARSHIP to continue her studies under her personal guidance at the ORAZIO VECCHI CONSERVATORY in MODENA, where she is currently enrolled.

In 1995, she made her debut at the Teatro Juárez in Guanajuato as Luisa in Luisa Fernanda and Flora in La Traviata. Since then, she has performed numerous roles, including Countess (Le Nozze di Figaro), Micaëla (Carmen), Sister Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), Nella (Gianni Schicchi), Rita (Donizetti), Liù (Turandot), and Mimì (La Bohème). In the past two years, her most notable debuts include leading roles in AIDA, TURANDOT, Madama BUTTERFLY, FIDELIO (Leonora), Cavalleria rusticana (Santuzza), Il Trovatore (Leonora), I Pagliacci (Nedda), and Amelia in Un ballo in maschera.

She has given concerts in Mexico, Spain, Germany, Italy, and the United States. As a soloist, she has performed in major works such as Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Missa Brevis, and Requiem, Fauré’s Requiem, Schubert’s Mass in G, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Bach’s Magnificat, and Carmina Burana, among others.

Some of her solo recitals in Europe have taken place at:

  • The National Auditorium of Madrid with the Andres Segovia Orchestra (dir. Victor Ambroa).
  • Berlin, Cologne, and Arsbeck (Germany).
  • Ateneo, Circulo de Bellas Artes, and Museo Sorolla in Madrid.
  • The VII Alarcos Llorach Novel Prize Ceremony in Oviedo.

Since 2004, she has been a soloist with the Ensemble Gaubert, specializing in French and contemporary music.
She performed Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater (dir. Vincenzo La Ferla) as part of the Madrid City Council’s 2007 programming.
In the “Classics in Summer 2007” cycle of the Madrid Community, she premiered “Aunque estoy lejos”, a musical poem for voice and harp by Eduardo Jaudenes.
She has also performed the most famous songs of composer Anton Garcia Abril, accompanied by pianist Elena Barrientos.

In 2008, she participated in the theatrical opera Orchestra by Carmen Resino (as the internal solo voice) under the direction of Luis Maluenda at the Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.
During the XX Anniversary Commemorative Concert of the Adolfo Salazar Conservatory at the National Auditorium of Madrid, she premiered three songs by this composer, based on Paul Verlaine’s texts, accompanied on piano by Carmen Díez.
In 2008, she performed at the Teatro Bonci in Cesena and the Cesare Pavese Foundation in Piedmont, where she participated in the world premiere of the opera “La Quinta Donna – Amore e Morte di Cesare Pavese.”

In 2012, she performed a recital in the spectacular Cueva de Ardines (Asturias), as part of the XV Ribadesella Chamber Music Festival, accompanied by tenor Moisés Molín and pianist Olga Semoushina.

Notable performances:

  • June 2010: Debuted as Aida at the Temple of Debod in Madrid, under the musical direction of S. Kulhman / M. Lamazares and stage direction of Ignacio Garcia.
  • November 2010: Performed Nedda (I Pagliacci) in Madrid, staged by Constantino Juri.
  • January 2011: Performed Madama Butterfly during the Madrid Opera Season (dir. S. Kulhmann / J. Cordón), receiving great audience acclaim.
  • April 2011: Starred as Butterfly at the opera inauguration of ADDA Auditorium in Alicante.
  • June 2011: Debuted in Madrid as Turandot.
  • November 2011: Performed Leonore in Fidelio in Madrid.
  • 2012: Numerous performances as Madama Butterfly at Madrid’s Teatro Compac Gran Via (dir. Alejandro Jassan).
    • June: Auditorio Ciudad de León.
    • August: Teatro Alcalá Palace in Madrid.
    • September: Open-air Festival Internacional Ópera Sostenible in Buitrago del Lozoya, under the direction of Cuban Maestra Helena Herrera.

2013/2014 Season:

  • Debuted two new Verdi roles:
    • Amelia in Un ballo in maschera.
    • Leonora in Il Trovatore.
  • 2014: Performed again as Princess Turandot.
  • Upcoming engagements include performances as Aida in German theaters, and the roles of Leonora (Il Trovatore), Floria Tosca, and Cio-Cio San (Madama Butterfly) in Spain and Italy.
  • Currently preparing her debut as Abigaille in Nabucco.
